Hi everyone, I've been reading but not posting lately

I had my second dose of rituximab last Thursday, all went ok, but I think I'm having some problems from the side effects. I have had a headache on and off since the week end, some dizzy spells and hot flushes (past the menopause) and feeling very low. The leaflet mentions headache dizziness and hot flushes so I'm hoping this will wear off after a time.
I'm also hoping the fatigue will improve, I just want to sleep at the moment.
I have a gp appointment tomorrow for a medication review, so I will speak to her about this. I'm probably being overly worried, as I have been lucky with other meds regarding the side effects.
The headache is getting me down too. Having another hot flush right now, it's making me feel awful.
I'm only working for two days a week now, but I miss my two little boys terribly, they have moved away after Christmas. I have too much time on my hands, I've been asked if I would like to work voluntary in the nursery where Tristan attended as I got to know them by bringing him every day.
At the moment I just want to feel better
Sorry this is a bit negative everyone Sad

Oh barb! You poor lady
Headaches are my worst nightmare...

The rtx can effect your blood pressure
Which can give rotten head aches

I've got this stick from the chemist called 4head that's soothing

If you're rather low- it can make you want to sleep- I'm so sorry you're poorly

The ra is particularly vicious when it steals from you
I was horribly poorly after rtx but the others did brilliantly even if rough at the start

At least it's having *some* effect (hoping the positive ones are soon to follow!)

Hi Barbara,

Sorry you`re not feeling so good - I usedto get those sort of side effects from leflunomide, and they are pretty awful. You will also be missing your two little boys, which will be hard as well.

I hope your GP appointment went well, and hope you fel better very soon.

Hi Barb,

So sorry to hear you are feeling rough after the Rituximab. The headache is I believe quite common and I certainly had it for a while after RTX infusions, plus the flushed face and going hot all the time. I also get these effects after a steroid infusion so I think the two together magnified the side effects. I also got sinusitis which gave a big headache too and seem to be prone to this.

However - to be more upbeat, the effects do wear off and for me the Rituximab has been a good drug, especially after second and third rounds. It did take about 8 weeks to notice the benefits, which may seem long but it does soon pass. I really, really hope that you will benefit too and it will make the side effects worthwhile.

I would report the side effects to the Rheumy team though as they would want to know about any symptoms for your records.
I am given a half dose each time now for various reasons including low BMI and it seems to do the trick just the same.

Give yourself some time and TLC and hopefully when you feel better you will be able to work a bit with little ones again. They do lift the spirits with their little ways and sayings don't they?:-)

Take good care,
Love Lizxx
